Robert Ulsh, the owner of Master Sound Studios and Master Sound Pro Audio, has been involved in the music scene since the early 60's when he began playing the guitar. In the late 60's Rob played and sang in several rock groups in western New York which performed in area clubs and colleges. In college he taught guitar as a staff instructor and directed the colleges folk-rock group which represented his college on summer tours. He was always involved with the technical/electronic aspects of music and set up his first 8-track studio in 1979. In 1987 Master Sound Studios became a nationally known studio as it upgraded to 48 tack analog with its syncronized Studer A-827 and Sony APR 24 analog 24 track recorders and Automated Amek G-2520 96 input console. Since that time Rob has engineered for such artist and producers as Missy Elliot, Violinist Karen Briggs- Yanni, Teddy Riley, (producer for Michael Jackson, Guy, Bobby Brown, New Kids, Fine Young Cannibals, Blackstreet), Saxophonist Chris Potter - Steely Dan, Katharine McPhee -American Idol, The Music of Led Zepplin, Glen Campbell, Debby Boone, Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis Jr., Crystal Gayle, Eddie Rabbitt, The Party, Phil Keaggy -guitarist, Shiela Walsh, Greg Nelson, Michael Bivens, Orchestral and film score composer/arranger and Emmy Award winner -Brent Havens and many others.

Rob is an engineer who has over 33 years of combined musical and technical recording experience and approaches his engineering with not only technical prowess and know-how but also with musical sensitivity. As a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and producer he is able to make technical decisions that translate well in musical terms. Engineering in one of the mid-Atlantic areas most technically advanced studios, Master Sound Studios, has given Rob the opportunity to work with a wide variety of styles such as Classic Rock, Pop, Alternative, Orchestral, Country, Traditional and Modern Jazz, R&B, Fusion, Blues, Hip-Hop, Punk, Folk, Gospel, Country-Rock, Avant-garde and Progressive Rock. As an engineer it's critical to master the special nuances and gear that make up the "sound" which defines a particular style or "genre" of music. Rob knows how to get the "sound" for different styles of music in order to maintain the integrity of that musical style. Rob and his sales associate staff bring all of that expertise, experience and knowledge base of both vintage and new gear to the table to help you make the right decision when it comes to making decisions about the the kind of equipment you need to get the “sound” you’re looking for.
